What Is Gating?
Gating is the practice of applying restrictions to an Offer to limit access based on specific criteria like email domain, ZIP code, credit card type, or even affiliation with a particular group.
Think of it as a VIP entrance for your most important buyers.
Why Use Gating?
Gated Offers allow you to:
- Reward specific groups (such as students, military members, or teachers)
- Build sponsor-specific promotions that target select audiences
- Reduce fraud and keep tickets away from bots and brokers
- Launch exclusive presales and early access opportunities
- Protect limited or premium inventory
Gating Options Available in FEVO Enterprise
Here's a look at the restriction types you can use in FEVO:
ID.me Verification
Use FEVO’s ID.me integration to restrict access to verified members of groups like military, healthcare workers, teachers, and more. Perfect for appreciation nights, discount programs, or sponsor-targeted activations.
Domain & Email Gating
- Domain: Restrict access to users with certain email domains (such as .edu or a corporate domain)
- Email: Upload a list of approved email addresses to tailor your audience with precision
Promotion Codes
Gate inventory behind a code. These can be single-use or multi-use, generic or unique, and are ideal for loyalty programs, VIP presales, or campaign-specific Offers.
ZIP Code Restrictions
Restrict access by ZIP code to target regional audiences. This is especially helpful for localized promotions and community-focused events.
Card Type & BIN Restrictions
Control access based on the shopper's payment method:
- Card Type: Accept only selected credit card brands
- BIN: Limit to cards issued by specific banks, ideal for financial partner campaigns
Discount-Based Gating
Ensure that certain discounts are only accessible under the right conditions. Great for driving urgency or managing limited inventory.
Two-Factor Authentication
Add an extra layer of protection to ensure that only intended buyers can complete their purchase.
How to Set It Up
In FEVO Enterprise, go to the Offer Details tab and look for the Restrict Offer? section. From there, you can enable the appropriate gating options for your Offer.
If you're using ID.me, the setup process is straightforward:
- Email the OTE team at training@fevo.com to enable the integration
- Build your Offer and select "Restrict by ID.me"
- Market the Offer to your target audience
